About

NeptuneWine is Southern California’s premier source for Wine Education, offering Wine and Spirit Education Trust Courses, or WSET, through The Neptune School of Wine as well as the French Wine Scholar Program.

The school is the first WSET Approved Program Provider in Southern California, established in 2003. We offer the only WSET Courses taught by or overseen by a Master Sommelier and WSET Diploma Holder.

We offer courses in WSET Level 1, WSET Level 2, WSET Level 3, WSET Diploma as well as the French Wine Scholar course from the Wine Scholar Guild. Specialty classes and Blind Tasting Workshops are also offered throughout the year.

Neptune School of Wine

The School was founded in 2003 as the first Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) affiliated wine school in Southern California. They also offer programming by the Wine Scholar Guild (formerly the French Wine Society).

The School was originally a part of LCA Wine, which combined a wine shop with the wine school: it was located at the SOCO Collection in Costa Mesa in Orange County. LCA Wine closed its doors in May of 2019. The School relocated to a facility at the regional airport. At the same time, the School changed its name from the Peter Neptune of Wine to the Neptune School of Wine.

Peter Neptune, Master Sommelier

Peter Neptune was awarded his Master Sommelier pin in 2005 and has worked within the Somm community ever since. He is a teacher and examiner for the controversial Court of Master Sommeliers. He was also instrumental in producing the documentary SOMM: he championed director Jason Wise on the court’s board of directions and ensured access to film the 2013 movie.
